Open Platform
Zeno is designed as an open platform, allowing developers or content publishers to engage at different tiers based on their needs, from just using Zeno as a positioning service, to building their entire virtual worlds and agents.
Zeno platform offers various level of access via Zeno SDKs and APIs.
Tier 1: Using Localization
Developers build standalone applications and maintain their own backend, create all content independently, and publish their own applications. They use the platform’s localization service only.
Typical Applications: Mostly existing mature local map applications with overlaid AR scenes, such as tourist attraction apps adding AR navigation, check-in for coupons, etc.
Tier 2: Placing Spatial Content
Developers build standalone applications and use Zeno as localization and spatial content service. Developers create a static virtual world (without world engine support), and place content via the platform's editing tools. Their applications then discover and render these content through platform services.
Typical Applications: AR viewing applications like AR advertisements, AR museum, AR apps where virtual objects do not interact with each other.
Tier 3: Building Private Virtual World
Developers build standalone applications and use Zeno’s world engine to build and run their private virtual worlds. Developers can rely entirely on the platform for backend-free development or use their own backend while utilizing the platform for spatial discovery and script synchronization.
Typical Applications: Treasure hunt games interacting with virtual objects, multiplayer interactive games like shooter games.

Tier 4: Working within The Zeno World (Public World)
This tier differs from the previous three. Instead of building standalone apps, content developers or publishers release AR content in the public world, or mini-program-like applications in the public world as a container (instanced world inside the public world).
Users in the Zeno World can discover content published by other users (content creators or developers). They can also enter portals published by mini-program developers.
Typical Content: Virtual art exhibitions, advertisements, social features, AR applications bridging online and offline for physical stores, emphasizing open spaces and the location of users and content. Various games including treasure hunts, combat, racing, etc., emphasizing exclusive, complex, real-time scripted interactions.
Requires detailed spatial privacy and permission design: determining who can publish content where, considering physical boundaries, etc.
